This can only be strengthened through the launch of our Languages Ambassador programme. The brainchild of our Head of French and Teacher of French, Russian and German, Miss Manion and Mr. Pandolfino, the scheme invites pupils to represent a chosen modern language throughout school life and within and outside the school community.
The pupils had to apply for a spot on the programme by expressing their ideas and further conveying the strong emphasis placed on Pupil Voice at CLS. As a team, they are just shy of 40 members from Fourth and Fifth Form, evidencing the enthusiasm and commitment across year groups. At the launch just before half-term, Mr. Pandolfino and Miss Manion also showed the possibilities for collaboration with other organisations within the scheme which will permit pupils to gain experience and ready themselves for life after CLS.
The scheme is very holistic: it is not just about languages; it will also develop self-confidence and teamwork. In the pipeline coming up for the future, they will be collaborating with the peer mentoring scheme, offering support for those who are less confident.
This will be a great experience for everyone involved as it will not only help to develop a range of soft skills which are essential for the workplace but will also assist others to excel and find joy in their language learning. The scheme will also work alongside CLSG to further improve ties between the City Schools community.
