Museums, theatres, universities, businesses and historic institutions become extensions of the classroom. Travel to school
Our pupils negotiate the London transport system with confidence and independence.
We are lucky to be served by a number of transport hubs here on the river: bus, riverboat, underground, National Rail and the Elizabeth line, as well as nearby Santander Bicycle docking stations.
Landing at the riverboat jetty offers a memorable way to arrive at the School. The riverside approach from Blackfriars Station – the Thameslink station bestrides the Thames and looks across to the School – provides a similarly memorable experience without the need to cross busy streets.
Our catchment area extends North, South, East and West, with pupils converging from all directions. They regularly travel in pairs and groups, as well as individually; we see this as a positive and beneficial element of our pupils’ development. Pupils actively enjoy their daily commute!
Bringing the city into the classroom
While London is an extension of our classroom, our location also enables us to bring the city into school. Our proximity to world-leading museums, galleries, universities, businesses and cultural institutions means pupils regularly learn from experts at the forefront of their fields. Through guest speakers, seminars, workshops and collaborative partnerships, classroom learning is enriched by fresh ideas, contemporary issues and first-hand experience.
These connections enrich the curriculum, making learning more relevant, inspiring pupils to think critically, expand their horizons and see how their education connects with the wider world and the future they will help shape.
