Did you know?

Last year more than 345 Old Citizens came back to school for reunions and events. We would love to see you too!

Our pupils face an ever-changing world ahead in which the jobs we are preparing them for do not yet exist.

Pankaj Chandak

Class of 1995

I was at CLS for Sixth Form and well prepared by school for a career in Medicine. I am delighted to participate in this group and support the Development & Alumni Team in creating meaningful networking opportunities for those working in science, technology and medicine and pupils thinking of going into the sector.

As a speaker and attendee at several CLS alumni events, I recognise the value of the network and would like to encourage others to do the same. I am also particularly proud to have been asked to feature as a 21st Century Citizen portrait which I’ve heard now sits in Great Hall!

Alongside my work as a transplant surgeon, I am now conducting post-doctoral research at King’s College London and also UCL, Institute of Child Health on the transformative power of the warm machine perfusion techniques for regenerative medicine and bioengineering and novel technologies in transplantation surgery. I am active in science communication and work with the Royal Institution (having delivered a Michael Faraday Discourse) and the British Science Association as well as the BBC , Channel 4 , World Service Radio and Princes Trust Institute for Education. I was medical advisor to the Netflix series ‘The Crown’ and acted in several episodes.

I was awarded the Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2024 and delivered the KCL Bulkley-Barry-Cooper Professorial Lecture.
