John Shrapnel, Class of 1960

27 April 1942 - 14 February 2020

John Shrapnel was born in Birmingham, the elder son of parliamentary correspondent Norman Shrapnel and moved to London shortly before attending City of London School. John's first foray into acting started during his time at School where he played Hamlet and was described in reviews as "admirable, exceeding hope'".

A wonderful actor on both stage and screen, John most recently played Camillo in The Winter’s Tale alongside Kenneth Branagh at The Garrick in 2015.

He is survived by his wife, Francesca, their three sons, Joe, Lex and Thomas – and by his younger brother, Hugh.
