In the current round of applications, just under half of those pupils interviewed have secured an offer. This figure – nearly 20% of our Senior Sixth year group – is the highest for several years, and forms part of the more than 400 university offers that our senior pupils have already received this year. Offers have been coming in from universities across the UK, including St Andrews, Bristol, Exeter, Imperial, King’s College (London) and Warwick.
CLS pupils will be progressing to Oxford and Cambridge to study subjects as wide-ranging as Russian & Persian, Music, Economics, Classics, Theology, Asian & Middle Eastern Studies, Linguistics, Mathematics, Engineering and Medicine. Three pupils have secured offers from Oxford to study PPE, and there are a remarkable six offers to study English and English and Languages. Two pupils will be taking up Organ Scholarships (at Keble, Oxford and Clare, Cambridge), and at least one pupil will be taking up a Choral Award (at Merton, Oxford).
The application cycle to universities in the USA and elsewhere overseas is also in full swing. Congratulations to pupils in receipt of early offers from the University of Chicago, Purdue, the University of Toronto, Davidson College and McGill, where one pupil has received an academic scholarship.
