More than 100 musicians from CLS and CLSG took part in the annual competition which began with a series of heats before half term in six categories; singing, strings, wind & brass, piano & organ, guitar & harp, and percussion.

Sixth Form pupil, Yipeng, won the Advanced category for CLS on piano while CLSG Sixth Former Chloe won the Advanced category on clarinet. In the Intermediate category, for up to grade 5 standard, two singers took the titles; Shreyas for CLS and Eleanor for CLSG.

The final, which was attended by parents and family members of the 23 finalists, was adjudicated by conductor Rafaello Morales, founder of Fidelio and music director of Fidelio Orchestra.

It was a very special evening. Yipeng wowed both audience and adjudicator with his performance of  Elegy no.4 Turandots Frauengemach by Busoni while Chloe moved us with her stunning and moving interpretation of the second movement of Krommer’s Concerto in Eb Major. Shreyas’s voice in The Bird’s Lament by Richard Rodney Bennet was pure and beautiful, and Eleanor utterly enchanted us with her unaccompanied singing of All of Me by John Legend. Congratulations to everyone involved.
