The visit was an invaluable opportunity for Art pupils to gather primary research while directly studying a wide variety of historical and contemporary objects on display. From intricate ceramics to cutting-edge modern sculpture, the pupils explored different forms, materials, and techniques, gaining firsthand insight into the craftsmanship behind each piece.

Guided by their research aims, pupils examined the textures, shapes, and details of objects relevant to their own coursework, making detailed sketches and taking photographs to further their understanding of three-dimensional design.

Highlights of the visit included the museum’s extensive ceramics collection, with pieces spanning centuries and various cultures, as well as contemporary installations that showcase innovative uses of materials in modern design.

Pupils were encouraged to explore these works with a critical eye, considering how artists and designers manipulate form and space to create visually striking and functional objects and spaces.
