World Child Cancer, the charity we are supporting this academic year, kindly invited some of our charity committee along to their Press Day at the Chelsea Flower Show this week.
Frederick, Santosh, Kush and Axel, four of our ‘inspiring individuals’ have raised an average £2,000 each across this year completing a range of activities from running 2km every day for 200 days, organising Christmas Carols at Blackfriars Station, chopping off their hair to donate to the Little Princess Trust and running 10x 5kms and 5x 10kms. They were so excited to represent CLS at the Flower Show.
Along with our Charity Coordinator, Miss Babb, the pupils visited WCC’s garden, designed by Giulio Giorgi, constructed across 2 weeks without the supply of power! The design and construction contributed to WCC winning the Environment Innovation Award out of all the gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show – an impressive feat.
Luke, WCC’s CEO, reminded the pupils that their individual fundraising has so much impact, not just immediately, but in the long term.
CLS pupils had lunch with Luke, WCC’s CEO, who reminded them that their individual fundraising has so much impact, not just immediately, but in the long term. £1,000 can train one nurse, who can look after hundreds of children a year, across an average of 30-40 years. The pupils were even congratulated by a few celebrities along the way!
