We are offering a suite of unique courses that includes the study of artificial intelligence, reasoning, rhetoric, and civics.
A core part of the programme is the Fifth Form City Ready Lecture Series. With weekly talks from CLS alumni, parents and other stakeholders in the school community, the series aims to inform, inspire and provoke discussion among our pupils. Speakers range from academics to industry experts working to solve complex challenges.
The lecture series began today with Andrew Copson, CEO of the British Humanist Association. Offering a deep dive into secularism in the modern era, Andrew shared an erudite perspective on arguments for and against secularism, and on the ongoing debate around the role and value of secularism in addressing tensions in modern multi-faith and multicultural societies. Pupils showed real interest, asking challenging questions and modelling the art of ‘disagreeing well’.
Parents have asked if they can participate in this lecture series and we’ll soon offer dates where we’re able to open up the talks to them.
