Founded in 2015, Pharmacierge specialises in linking private doctors and hospitals with patients across London, providing a seamless prescription delivery and collection service.
The group were welcomed by Mr Rob Ungar, who guided them through the company’s innovative systems and the extensive renovations undertaken to optimise efficiency, accessibility and workplace quality. From the outset, it was clear that this was no ordinary pharmacy. At the heart of Pharmacierge’s operations is an advanced robotic arm, a central component of the company’s sorting system.
Mr Ungar explained that the robot plays a crucial role in organising medicines, considering factors such as frequency of use, medical importance, and packaging requirements. While the packaging process remains in the hands of staff, the robot streamlines operations by directing medicines efficiently, reducing the risk of human error and allowing staff to focus on patient service and delivery.
Alongside its robotics, Pharmacierge also pioneers digital solutions through its bespoke e-prescribing app. This tool not only enables doctors to send prescriptions securely, but also provides patients with clear and detailed guidance on their medication – from dosage and frequency to the total duration of treatment. The group were struck by the care taken to ensure both security and usability in its design.
What became most apparent throughout the tour was the balance Pharmacierge strikes between cutting-edge technology and the irreplaceable human touch. While robotics and digital systems are fundamental to its model, they are used to support – not replace – the expertise and care of its staff.
The visit was both fascinating and inspiring, offering pupils valuable insight into the future of healthcare delivery.
