There was much excitement as City of London School pupils took part in this year’s London History Bee & Bowl, held at Trinity School on Saturday 24 February. An early start did not deter the pupils, who were eager to get started with the preliminary rounds, beginning with the Bowl.
With 26 teams taking part in total, and CLS accounting for 7 of those across three of the four age groups (Junior Varsity, Middle School and Elementary) the Bowl was underway with a rally of impressive historical quizzing. After the preliminaries, it was time for the Bee. The Bee saw our pupils enter individually to the rounds of quizzing, with the finals of both following a short break for lunch.
A number of pupils emerged victorious from the day, with special mentions to Julius and Ethan in Fifth Form and Fourth Form for finishing first and third places in the Junior Varsity Bee, and Max and Lorcan in First Form for their respective first and third place finishes in the Elementary bee.
In the Bowl, City of London B were the triumphant team in the Junior Varsity category, and our City of London F team, who took part in and prevailed in the Elementary division.
Regardless of result, a fantastic day was had by all with some outstanding quizzing on display. We’re looking forward to hosting the next set of History Bee and Bowl events, the British Championships and the European Championships, taking place in April and May respectively.
