Based on of the classic novel by Erich Kästner about the adventures of “Emil”, a country boy in 1920s Berlin and his band of detectives who set out to find a thief. The cast was led by Boaz in Second Form playing Emil who demonstrated the fluidity of Emil’s character and his deep convictions and morals in his superb acting in contrast to the evil of Mr Snow, played by Dexter in Third Form, the villain of Emil’s story. The tension of the hunt was complimented by ‘Toots’, played by Sean in First Form, whose comedic intervals provided a humorous sidetrack to the main story.
Accompanied by impressive vocal and instrumental performances from pupils in both CLS and CLSG, the cast and crew worked extraordinarily hard to pull together so many different scenes and locations seamlessly transporting the audience from the station at Neustadt to a hotel in Berlin and everywhere in between. The preshow was also an unexpected yet interesting addition to the story, providing an insight into what life was like for the children of 1920’s Germany.
