Reaching the national final represents an outstanding footballing achievement; throughout the competition, the team demonstrated exceptional talent, resilience and commitment, overcoming a series of challenging opponents while remaining true to the attractive, possession-based style of football they have developed together.
The final itself provided a fitting showcase for a team that has consistently impressed throughout the season. Facing St Margaret’s Church of England Academy at Stoke City’s BET365 Stadium, the boys displayed composure, bravery, technical excellence and outstanding teamwork, earning praise for both their football and their conduct.
While the result ultimately did not fall in CLS’s favour, the achievement of reaching the final is one that every player, member of staff and supporter should be immensely proud of. The atmosphere created by pupils, parents and staff was extraordinary, providing unforgettable support for the team on one of the biggest occasions in the school’s sporting history. The crowd was formed of our brilliant Year 9 as well as members of staff (including the Head) who travelled up to Stoke to show their support.
This remarkable cup run has provided memories that will last a lifetime and has established a new benchmark for football at CLS. With much of the squad set to return next season, there is every reason to believe that this talented group can build on their success and continue to achieve great things in both national and independent school competitions.
