Saint-Saëns Requiem fills the Great Hall
Expectations were high as parents, guests and friends filed our Great Hall for the Choral-Symphonic concert, Saint-Saens Requiem.
The opening was as loud as it was rumbustious; pulling out all of the stops, the Choral and Menuet Gothique from Boëllmann’s Suite Gothique, played by Senior Sixth pupil, Adam, added a splash of elegance to an otherwise rollicking masterpiece. The concert continued with Grieg’s Holberg Suite, played to perfection by the Senior String Orchestra under the experienced baton of Miss Jones.
The highlight of the evening, performed by a stage full of the Chamber Choir and First Orchestra, was Saint-Saëns’s Requiem. Music filled the hall, ranging from the chords of the organ and trombones to the dulcet tones of the choir and strings.
The spectacular was a credit to the vast amount of work and time put in by both the pupils and music staff - congratulations!
