Future Guidance at COLA Highgate Hill
Bodil Chambers, Director of our Future Guidance department, along with recent leaver Gabriel Basden, recently visited Year 10 pupils at COLA Highgate Hill to talk about higher education options. The school, which is part of the City of London Family of Schools, is adding a new highly academic Sixth Form to be known as Highgate Hill Collegiate Sixth form, which will cater to those who wish to study at Russell Group universities or competitive degree-level apprenticeships.
As part of their offer holder event for incoming pupils, the future Sixth Form team introduced pupils to aspirational options for higher and further education, including Oxbridge, degree apprenticeships, and careers in law and medicine. Bodil and Gabriel spoke to pupils about applying to highly selective US universities, introducing them to the broad liberal arts curriculum and exciting extra-curricular opportunities typical of US colleges, as well as information about financial aid and merit scholarships.
Gabriel, who is taking up a place at Harvard University in August, shared his reasons for applying to the US and his experience of the application process, as well as his excitement and anticipation for the four years ahead at Harvard. Several pupils commented afterwards that they were amazed at some of the opportunities available and that they would definitely consider applying to the US in the future.
