Sponsored Walk raises thousands for Centrepoint

Tuesday, 18 July 2017

At the end of term, over 600 CLS boys took part in the Annual Sponsored Walk spanning 11 miles from Hampton Court to Kew Green. Charity is very much an integral part of the CLS ethos and it is epitomised by the Sponsored Walk. Boys from OG up to 4th Form take part in the walk, while the Junior Sixth Form ensure the day runs (walks) smoothly. It's never an easy day, especially when temperatures exceed 25°C as they did this year, however, it is vital part of the charity appeal; starting in OG, each student takes part in the walk every year, giving all boys a way to contribute tangibly to fundraising efforts.

This year, Centerpoint is the charity of choice which was voted for by the student body at the start of the year. Centrepoint works to combat youth homelessness aid give homeless young people a positive and independent future away from the streets. Fundraising has been going tremendously well, with highlights including the Sponsored Sleepout where 100 CLS boys slept out in the School Courtyard, and the series of CiT-Ed talks by teachers. The walk is the culmination of the year's efforts and can raise up to 20% of the year's total.

Thanks must go to the friends of CLS, all the teaching staff, the charity committee and the Junior Sixth Form, without whom the walk would not have been possible.

If you would like to dontate to Centrepoint and sponsor the 600 CLS boys who so commendably completed the walk, not to mention the few who ran the entire distance, please go to our just giving page for the City of London School charitable trust which you can find here. Through our efforts and your help, we can make a genuine difference to the lives of homeless young people living on the streets of London.
