CLS University Offers
At the start of this week, the 2017/2018 university application cycle closed. As a school, we now have 161 UCAS applications with UK universities. The boys are receiving offers thick and fast.
The most popular institutions amongst this year’s applicants are, in no particular order, Bristol, LSE, Warwick, St. Andrews, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Oxford, Durham, UCL, King’s College, Exeter and Birmingham. Popular courses have included Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Economics, History, Medicine, Philosophy and Politics. Against a national backdrop of a falling number of pupils studying languages at A-level, it is also heartening to see so many of our boys applying for courses in this area.
Pictured on the steps outside the front of school are some of the 27 boys who received offers from Oxford and Cambridge. It is always a pleasure to see the boys’ incredibly hard work rewarded in this most competitive endeavour. Their offers cover a wide range of subjects including Economics and Management, Engineering, Mathematics, Philosophy, Modern Languages, English, Biochemistry, Medicine, Classics, History and Politics, Natural Sciences and Law.
Closer to home, we are delighted to report that many pupils have offers from Imperial College, with its outstanding courses in the sciences. In the coming weeks, we expect a large number of decisions from Warwick, Edinburgh and Durham. In addition, there are a number of pupils currently awaiting decisions from US Colleges in March, with one pupil already in receipt of a place at NYU for next year.
