Gill takes the British Interschool Ski Championship by storm
Second Former Gil has recently competed in the British Interschool Ski Championship in Pila. Here he recounts his experience:
"Sitting on the run way on Friday while the plane was being de iced I was looking forward to what promised to an exciting 4 days of skiing. It started off with two days of training, one day slalom and one day Giant Slalom. The coaches were very helpful and gave me lots of very good advice which really improved my technique. Then on Monday it was time for my first race, slalom. It was a tight and difficult course with lost of short turns but thankfully, I made both runs down without missing a gate or crashing and with a very good time which put me in 10th place.
On Tuesday, it was the turn of the Giant Slalom, usually a faster race with longer turns. However, the course was very narrow with lots of short turns. Fortunately, like Monday I managed to mark it down in a fast time which put me in 11th also a very good position.
Sadly, that brought the end to what was an incredibly exciting and fun few days of ski racing."
Well done to Gil on his fantastic achievment.
