Lower School raises the bar
Tuesday saw the Lower School shine in our annual concert, where pupil's performed to a packed out Great Hall.
Second Orchestra were first up to perform, and the strings, winds, brass and percussion combined to make an unforgettable performance of the best bits from Indiana Jones. Loud and exciting, it was an amazing start to the evening.
They were followed by solos on the piano and cello before the CLS Second Brass were introduced with a bang, playing rhythmic and lively pieces as well as slow, flowing ones: Pirates’ Parade, Swing Low and Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines all featured.
The Junior String Orchestra appeared on stage and played the classic tune of the first movement of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart, an impressive and varied performance of a complex work.
Finally, Swing Band took to the stage and were able to get even more people enjoying the music and rocking around with classic tunes such as Up Town Funk and Hit the Road Jack.
The concert was a huge success with all kinds of music represented. A huge thank you must also go to Mr Harrison, Miss Jones and other music staff who organised, conducted and accompanied in the concert, making it such a success.
