City of London School ends Basketball season as LISBA champions

Wednesday, 27 March 2019

The 2018/2019 season has been excellent for CLS Basketball. The four different teams have achieved an overall record of 42 wins and only 10 losses, including victorious games in the U16 and U18 LISBA League Championships.

The U14 team came third in the League after a very promising season that saw the team improving week-by-week. They achieved an overall record of 6 wins and 4 losses and secured their bronze medal in a great performance at the playoffs. The U15 team finished their regular season unbeaten with an astonishing 11 wins. They were hugely unlucky to lose in the final against a very strong Whitgift team (56-65), the first loss for this team in over two years!

The U16 team finished the regular season at the top of the table with only one loss in eight matches. A great performance in the play-offs Semi-Final and Final saw this team winning the first ever LISBA League Championship for this group of talented players.

The U18 team finished the regular season in second position on the table, with only one loss in eight matches. The team beat Royal Russell in the playoffs Semi-Final and Whitgift in the final to become U19 LISBA League Champions.

Congratulations to every boy who took part and, of course, to Mr. Ortiz for his incredible skill and drive in leading Basketball at the School.

The U16 and U18 teams finished top of the table and as LISBA league Champions!
