Young Artists Exhibition Success
Seventeen boys’ artworks have been accepted into the 2019 Young Art exhibition at the Royal College of Art (RCA). They will be exhibited among 820 pictures chosen from more than 7600 across the UK. Eight of these boys have also gained prizes and all the proceeds will go to Cancer Research UK.
This year there is a new category, Printmaking. This was judged by Chris Orr RA, who is a well-known Printmaker himself. He personally commented that the standard of work from the CLS boys was extraordinary. He wanted to put on record that the dry point portraits entered by Ms Easton’s third form students, were a very impressive body of work. These included Rollo, who has been awarded Second Prize and Gaius, who gained Commended.
Our Art department visited the exhibition (as well as the prize giving ceremony) at the end of April, when the RCA was holding a private showcase open to those whose works were on display. The quality of work was, indeed, quite extraordinary from our School as well as from others.
Congratulations to everyone involved.
