Sixth Former wins Best Feature at Shine Media Awards
City of London School continued its tradition of winning prizes for the quality of its pupil journalism in the annual Shine Media Awards, held on Monday 2 July at Stationers’ Hall.
Beating competition from 32 other schools, Louis (Junior Sixth) was awarded the prestigious Best Stand-Alone Piece for his article ‘I’m Scared for the future of my Holocaust History’.
The article was originally published in pupil newspaper The Citizen in January as part of the Holocaust Memorial Week edition. It was clear then that this was a piece of exceptional quality and the editors knew that this was the article which we would submit as our best feature. It was a great moment to hear Louis’ name announced, not least because this was the one occasion in an hour-long ceremony of prizes on which Katherine Whitbourn from The Guardian stopped the proceedings to speak to the entire hall about this article and how moving she had found Louis’ very personal account to be.
Louis' prize includes a workshop with Daily Telegraph writer Simon Heffer. Congratulations Louis.
