Ahan talks at Programming Conference
During the summer holiday, Fourth Former Ahan, gave a talk at JuliaCon 2019, the annual conference of the Julia programming language, at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Ahan spoke about a smart house built using a Raspberry Pi.
This wasn’t his first brush with JuliaCon glory; last year he presented a well-received poster about a remote-controlled robot. This early success gave him the necessary confidence to travel to the US and present to the 350-strong crowd, his submission having been selected in an anonymous judging process.
Staff here at City of London School are full of praise for the initiative Ahan showed in entering himself for the competition. His chemistry teacher commented that “audience clearly appreciated (the) applications and (the) very clear answers to their questions. It will be very interesting to see if Julia overtakes Python in popularity.”
We congratulate Ahan for this impressive achievement and we look forward to his developing skills in the coming school years. Meanwhile, you can see a video of the talk here and the talk abstract can be found here.
