Charity Committee raises over £69,000 for Tiny Tickers

Wednesday, 18 September 2019

We are thrilled to announce that this year we have raised £69,323 to support Tiny Tickers! They are a small UK-based medical charity specialising in the early detection and treatment of congenital heart defects in infants.

As we bring this year's charity campaign to a close, it’s certainly worth looking back at such an exciting, enjoyable and successful year of fundraising for Tiny Tickers. We elected our committee at the start of the Autumn term 2018 and instantly began researching possible charities for the year to come. Pupils voted on their favourite charity out of the four finalists and Tiny Tickers was chosen. The committee and the rest of the school were raring to go, all planning future events and quirky ways of raising money for our new charity.

Some of the stand-out events this year included the Winter Fair, the Quiz and Curry Night, Cit-Ed talks given by some of our very own teachers, the Spring Soiree and our Head, Mr Bird, jumping out of a plane! With help from weekly doughnut sales during Friday breaktimes, frequent events put on by tutor groups and Mufti Days, the grand total was creeping up. This all culminated in the Summer Fair, where classes gave one last effort to boost that amount, to great avail.

There is no doubt that this year has been a huge success. The tireless Charity Committee and all the teachers and students must be congratulated for their work this year – the charity appeal is such a crucial part of School life, and it is of paramount importance that it continues to be so.

All proceeds go to Tiny Tickers, who will now be able to provide expert on-site training to over 750 sonographers, increasing the chance that a potentially fatal congenital condition is detected and treated early.

Here’s to another fruitful year with the CLS Charity Appeal!
