Parents' Bursary Scheme Reception
It was lovely to welcome so many donors to the Parents’ Bursary Scheme to our special reception last night. It was a wonderful chance to celebrate the impact of bursaries at City of London School and thank everyone for their support.
We were delighted to welcome back two Old Citizens, Sheikh Abdul Azim (Class of 2015) and Zak Lakota- Baldwin (Class of 2017) who shared the impact of receiving a bursary while at CLS with our guests. Zak is now in his last year at Cambridge and Sheikh has just started a job at Accenture.
On the night, Zak gave a speech to the parents and said “coming from a low income background, a school like City might not have been an option for me at all. And I honestly feel that I would be a very different person to who I am today, had I not received a bursary and been given the opportunity to make City my home. Thanks to the generosity of the bursary scheme, any inquisitive boy like me can get an amazing education with endless opportunities, regardless of background or family income”
Donors to the Parents’ Bursary Scheme help the School offer bursaries to boys who might otherwise not be able to attend CLS. They have helped to ensure that bright and talented boys are able to share in all the experiences CLS has to offer irrespective of their financial circumstances.
We are very grateful that over 120 families have chosen to support the School in this way, collectively funding six full bursaries at City of London School. Thank you to everyone who makes this possible.
