Remote Learning: The Musical
At the end of April, the Second and Third Form spent a day working on a challenge set by the Drama Department, which had to be completed in one day. The idea of the project was to bring an original play or musical to the West End, including ideas for marketing, stage design, plot, and even ticket design. The plays and musicals which were handed in were superb – from horror to comedy, the only limit was the pupil's imaginations.
After much deliberation and over 200 entries, the Drama teachers chose Edward and Johnny as the overall winners, with 14 runners up.
Johnny told us about his winning entry and how he came up with the idea. "I wanted to create something which reflects our lives nowadays - a new normal. So I decided my musical would be about the lockdown, and how our new habits are starting to become the new ‘us’. I came up with many sketches and final scenes, using different musical genres, and called it - ‘Remote Learning: The Musical."
The pupils' efforts and ideas were well thought out and thoroughly executed and we can't wait to see some of them on a CLS stage soon!
