First Form build their own volcanoes

Monday, 29 June 2020

Pupils in the First Form (Year 7) recently took part in a volcano challenge set by the Classics Department. Based on the eruption of Vesuvius, pupils researched how the volcano erupted and the chaos it left in its wake. They were then given the opportunity to make an erupting volcano, or a dormant one (which is exactly what the Pompeiians thought Vesuvius was before AD79!) and send us a photo or video of their creation.

Everyone had a go with the eruption but they have also either excelled on an artistic, scientific or historical level and they all had so much fun!

Here is a video of the volcanoes in action....
