Race Equality Review
Last autumn, together with City of London School for Girls, we commissioned an independent reviewer to scrutinise every aspect of School life through the lens of race equality. This built on work that was already ongoing, involving staff and pupils alike, to ensure that we live out our commitment to equality and inclusion.
The independent review was led by Elizabeth Prochaska QC, a leading equality and human rights barrister. It is pleasing that the review recognises the “positive and cohesive” environment that characterises the communities of both CLS and CLSG. However, as we would expect, it makes a range of recommendations across broad areas of School life: in many of these areas, the issue had already been identified and work had already begun. A steering group has now been convened to oversee the implementation of these recommendations. This group includes pupil and governor representation.
