It has been a truly theatrical week at CLS, culminating in three sold-out performances of the irresistibly dark and delightfully camp musical Little Shop of Horrors. Staged in the Winterflood Theatre, this ambitious Upper School production brought together a remarkable cast of 43 pupils from CLS and CLSG, and one unforgettable star of the show: a deadly, smooth-talking, person-eating plant known as Audrey Two.
From the opening number, it was clear that this was a production with both scale and heart. The ensemble handled the musical’s sharp humour and soulful score with confidence, while the principals delivered committed, charismatic performances that kept the audience thoroughly engaged.
Special mention must go to the team behind Audrey Two, whose creation was as impressive as it was menacing. Each appearance of the ever-growing plant drew delighted gasps from the audience, and its final moments, equal parts chaotic and comic, were a testament to the talent and teamwork of the crew.
The production was met with rapturous applause and ended on a high, cementing its place as one of the most crowd-pleasing shows the Winterflood Theatre has hosted in recent years. As Audrey Two makes her exit stage left, we’re already looking forward to the next performance that our Drama Department have to offer.
