Acclaimed Danish singer, Marie Dahlstrøm, and some members of her band visited us this week in celebration of International Women’s Day.
Pupils from CLS and CLSG took part in afternoon workshops where keyboardist and producer Dan Diggas spoke on his creative process when mixing and, producing tracks. After this, each member of the singer’s band took a smaller group of pupil musicians and taught them a selection of Dahlstrøm’s songs on their respective instruments.
Once these had all devolved into sufficiently competitive and rambunctious displays of (attempted!) virtuosity, pupils regrouped for the centrepiece of the evening – the ‘Live Lounge’ concert. As relaxing as the name suggests, the rest of the evening featured six songs by Dahlstrøm’s outfit – three featured contributions from CLS and CLSG pupils, and really captured the joy of music as a communal activity – the finale even had some dancing from pupils and parents!

Thank you to Marie for coming in and to the Music Department for arranging such a wonderful evening.
