IntoUniversity

City of London School is delighted to be a founding partner of a new IntoUniversity centre in Islington, launched in the Autumn 2016. IntoUniversity has a proven track record of transforming the educational prospects and aspirations of young people in areas of deprivation, through innovative workshops, mentoring and academic support. Islington is one of the most polarised boroughs in London in terms of disparities in wealth and opportunity. To contribute to the foundation of a centre here is particularly relevant to City of London School – we draw many of our own pupils from this area, so this is a tremendous opportunity to increase our impact in and broaden our support of the local community.

Our sponsorship will directly benefit hundreds of boys and girls every year. At the heart of what the City of London School does is a strong tradition of service and generosity. Those who contribute to the IntoUniversity programme will be extending this tradition beyond the normal reach of the school. Staff and pupils alike will have the opportunity to volunteer at the centre; the extensive network of former pupils will be offered the opportunity to contribute to professional mentoring and those recent pupils at universities across the country will be able to maintain their link to IntoUniversity by mentoring in the town or city that they move to. Already, twenty pupils have been through the IntoUniversity mentor training programme and are beginning to arrange support in centres across London, and in doing so make a real difference in the lives of many young people.
