A taste for the dramatic
In my opinion, Drama and Theatre at CLS will never stop improving. During my time here I got involved with the department anywhere and everywhere they would let me: acting, directing, working backstage, and every show I worked on seemed to match or better the last.
The nature of theatre itself is to keep evolving as the times and situations change around us, and CLS theatre is no different. Whether it’s a modernised Romeo and Juliet based around London gang warfare by the Upper School, or an A Level devised piece exploring the phone hacking scandal, there’s a freshness about the work that City produces that echoes the development of modern theatre in the western world by the likes of Frantic Assembly and Robert Icke.
Belonging to a department with such strong community and such raw and awesome talent was an utter joy and a total privilege, an experience that has immeasurably shaped me into the person I am now.
Editor's note:- The experience and skill that Nikhil has developed working with the Drama Department can also be seen in the School video production, below, and the Student theatre production 'The Ladykillers'.
