Taking place at the Arts Depot in Finchley, this is a prestigious annual competition, attracting schools from across the South East, including Eton, Haberdashers’, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Wellington.
Each team performed an extract of a francophone play of up to 10 minutes, and prizes were awarded in several categories. The overall standard on the evening was exceptional and our pupils acted superbly, doing both schools very proud indeed.
Two pupils performed a translated version of ‘Blindsided’, a play that one of them wrote and then took to Edinburgh Fringe last summer! They were awarded the Jury’s Special Award for this outstanding performance.
Two other CLS pupils performed with the CLSG pupils in an extract of ‘Le Dieu du carnage’ by Yasmina Reza and won the prize for Best Spoken French as a group.
To perform in another language is no mean feat at all, let alone to the high level that they all did! A very well done to everyone involved.
