They have already earned multiple awards: Skills Champion, Design Award, and now two teams have qualified for the UK National Championships.
Miss Tomlinson took Team 34701A (Vincibus) and Team 34701D (Vanguard) to the VEX Robotics regional championship, the Christmas Tea-Time Special in Wormley, the day after the end of a busy term, and the timing did not slow them down at all!
Both teams jumped straight into a busy and highly competitive afternoon of robotics. Team 34701A (Vincibus) were impressive throughout, delivering a consistently strong performance across the event. Their preparation, much of which has taken place during the lunchtime robotics club run by the Design, Computing and Robotics department, paid off in style. The team were crowned Teamwork Champions, securing their place at the UK National Championship, the largest robotics competition in the country. They also currently hold the highest Driver Skills score in the UK for a school team, an achievement that reflects the growing strength of the programme.
Team 34701D (Vanguard) faced a number of challenges during the day and responded with determination, pushing through to reach the finals.
The competition was a great reflection of how the robotics programme at City of London School continues to develop, with teams arriving prepared, competing to win, and supporting one another throughout. We are extremely proud of both teams and look forward to what comes next. Next up: the UK National Championships!
