Volunteering Opportunities

Can you offer  a work experience placement  to a Fifth and Sixth Form pupils during their school holidays for as little as a day or longer, particularly those who may not have a personal network to draw upon. These experiences will help pupils build valuable transferable skills. We would assist you in structuring what pupils might do on the placements and any other formalities required.

Pupils seeing different work environments has a positive impact on employability skills and career decision-making, whilst providing pupils with an opportunity to learn more about the world of work. Particularly to our Fourth Form pupils (aged 14), we would be thrilled to hear from Old Citizens who would be interested in hosting CLS pupils on workplace visits.

We are looking to partner with organisations across a range of sectors to create an eight-week programme for pupils to undertake work-related projects focusing on solving complex and genuine problems. These projects would begin with a workplace visit and culminate in our pupils returning to the workplace to present their work and receive feedback. Between visits, pupils would work on the projects, in teams, at school.

Examples of the skills that we seek to develop through this initiative include communication, collaboration, digital skills, problem solving and analytical skills, multidisciplinary thinking and commercial awareness.

Lower School pupils (aged 11-13) are just starting to learn about the range of career opportunities open to them and make links between their academic subjects and careers. Would you enjoy speaking to our Lower School pupils at our weekly Futures Café to broaden their horizons, encourage them to challenge preconceived ideas and harness their enthusiasm for career exploration.

Supporting our Middle and Senior School pupils (aged 13-18), these sector-themed 8am networking breakfasts will enable pupils to explore career opportunities in their sector of interest in greater depth, benefitting from the experiences of those working in the sector. The breakfasts also develop pupils’ communication skills, particularly their ability to engage in professional conversations.

Could you host workshops, primarily aimed at Sixth Formers, to help them develop important career management skills. These could take place in school, or in your workplace, and could last anything from an hour to a day. They could be aimed at a small group of pupils, or any number up to the whole year group.
