National win for History Boys
Sunday saw ten boys take part in the British Bee and Bowl Finals at St. Paul's School. After several rounds and close fought matches, the finals took place at 4pm.
Congratulations to the Junior Varsity A Team who stormed into the final without losing a single match. Here they met the very accomplished Hockerill team. CLS were trailing at the end of the first quarter and by the end of the second quarter 100 to 80, which set up a tense second half. With a special subject of Spanish Armada, CLS got all 8 questions correct, swooping on valuable bonus marks. CLS now led 180 - 170 as the fourth quarter started. In this quarter you got more points for being the quickest buzzer; an early buzz in got 30 maximum points so we were 210 - 180 by the fourth question. With two to play the scores were 210 - 220 and with a 30 point interruption on question 7 CLS took the Gold!
The National Middle School Bee Final saw Second Former Amr and Third Former Dan taking centre stage at St. Paul's School. They were pitted against each other and four boys from St. Paul's having qualified in the preliminary rounds. Despite valiant efforts, they were frequently beaten to the buzzer by two boys from St. Paul's. However, congratulations to Amr who came third and got the bronze.
Fourth Former Sam was up next for the Junior Varsity Bee Final but unluckily was edged out by some quick buzzer work from the others.
Well done to all involved.
Congratulations to the Junior Varsity A Team who took gold.
