CLS has a wonderful array of Clubs and Societies to cater for almost every interest. From Chess to Applied Coding, Filmmaking to French Culture, Tabletop Games to Philosophy, there genuinely is something for everyone.
Rarely does a lunchtime pass without a visit from a notable speaker (a tangible advantage of our location) and there is never an awkward silence when it comes to questions. Quite the reverse, as speakers often miss their next commitment of the day due to vigorous interrogation!
Although considerable support is provided by staff in supporting Clubs and Societies, many are run by the pupils for the pupils. This is quite deliberate and ensures the offering reflects the diverse range of interests on the part of the pupil-body and enables the development of a range of leadership skills. Where there is a ‘gap in the market’ pupils are encouraged to set up new Clubs and Societies are guided through how to do this.
We recognise the importance of pupils having an opportunity to spend time with like-minded peers and the enjoyment and fun which pupils derive from this offering contributes enormously to their well-being. It is no accident that City of London School is such a happy place.
