Did you know?

Last year more than 345 Old Citizens came back to school for reunions and events. We would love to see you too!

Our pupils face an ever-changing world ahead in which the jobs we are preparing them for do not yet exist.

Friends of CLS

The School is enormously fortunate to have an active and supportive community of pupils’ parents. The Friends of CLS run an active programme of events to support the pupils, parents and the School.

For parents

We recognise that CLS has one of the broadest catchment areas of any day school in the country and, with pupils commuting independently from all corners of London. The Friends play an invaluable role in helping building the incredible community that is our parents.

They organise a wider range of social events, providing them with the opportunity to get to know other parents in a relaxed and informal setting. In a typical year there is a Quiz Night, a City Walk, a Spring Soirée. They also arrange regular coffee mornings in a lovely café adjacent to the School, facilitating further social contact and the opportunity to chat about the challenges of raising teenagers! Many parents say how much they value this.

The Friends also help keep parents informed making themselves available in particular to new families to answer questions as their child settles in. They are always represented at familiarisation, induction and transition events.

For pupils

The Friends work closely with the Friends of City of London School for Girls (CLSG) to organise joint events for various year groups. In OG to Third Form, pupils an participate in a fun and action-packed programme of events involving team games, quizzes, water-fights and a huge inflatable assault courses!

These are always well-attended and help develop their social skills and build foundations of wider friendship groups that can support them through their teenage years as they become older and more independent.

For the School

The Friends of CLS work closely with the School in a number of ways:

  • Secondhand uniform sales are held regularly each term. Blazers and other items of uniform are available in all sizes and in good condition. The sales are timed to coincide with events when parents are already coming into School such as concerts and parents’ evenings. These sales help parents save money, are part of our commitment to sustainability and also raise funds for the School.
  • They support the Charity Committee with their annual fundraising endeavours, supporting events and offering invaluable expertise.
  • The Friends also raise money to help provide activities and equipment for the benefit of the pupils. Many Clubs and Societies have benefitted from their generous support.
