City of London School is incredibly lucky to be a part of the City Schools group, consisting of CLS, City of London School for Girls (CLSG), and City Junior School (CJS).
Whilst each school has their own and distinct identity, all are part of the City of London Corporation’s Family of Schools and share our values and ethos.
City+
Our sixth form pupils take part in our City+ scheme alongside pupils from CLSG. It is a weekly timetabled programme that includes a range of speakers and workshops addressing the big issues of the day, and seminar sessions during which pupils can choose from one of over 30 short courses designed and taught by a team of teachers from both schools.
It is an important opportunity for pupils to broaden their horizons, meet some new people and hopefully have a little relief from their A-Level subjects once a week.
Co-educational Opportunities
A major advantage of our geographical proximity to City of London School for Girls (CLSG) is the opportunity for co-educational experiences. The number of these has increased markedly in recent years and take many forms. It has been wonderful to see the pupil’s collaborative instincts and creative talents flourish in these settings.
- All drama productions are performed jointly with CLSG
- Many music ensembles, orchestras and choirs include pupils from CLS and CLSG. There is one Director of Music across the City Schools.
- During the course of the academic year, there are a number of events held jointly for year groups at both schools, including leadership and problem-solving days.
- Many of the Clubs and Societies arrange joint meetings and collaborate on specific projects.
- Many partnership events involve pupils from CLS and CLSG collaborating to deliver workshops to partner schools.
- The annual Sponsored Walk is undertaken by pupils from both schools.
- The Friends of CLS (our parents’ organisation) arrange social events for pupils in Years 6 to 9.

Looking ahead: A shared Sixth Form future
The partnership between City of London School and City of London School for Girls continues to evolve. From September 2028, our Sixth Form pupils will benefit from a new shared Sixth Form Centre in the heart of the City, next to Guildhall, creating even more opportunities for collaboration while each school retains its own identity and traditions.
Alongside the established City+ programme, joint music, drama and wider co-curricular activities, the new Centre will provide a vibrant environment where pupils from both schools can learn together, exchange ideas and prepare for university and beyond.
City Junior School (CJS)
In September 2023, CJS opened as a mixed junior school for pupils aged between 7 and 11. As a joint endeavour, CJS is inclusive, unstuffy and committed to excellence in its educational offer. Fundamental to the strategic development of CLS and CLSG, CJS is an eloquent expression of our shared values: while both senior schools will remain single-sex, the junior school is building on the growing collaborations and partnerships between both existing schools, as well as with the City of London Family of Schools.
