We are a proudly diverse and inclusive community and celebrating difference is part of the fabric of the School. At the heart of our work in inclusion lies the belief that every pupil and member of staff should have an authentic sense of place and belonging at the School.
Identities are forever evolving, and we know we have to evolve with them so that everyone in our community feels safe to participate, safe to learn, and safe to challenge.
Inclusive spaces for all
We have a number of cultural societies that enable a range of supportive and inclusive spaces to allow pupils to discuss issues linked to their identity, faith and heritage.
These societies include a Jewish Society, an African-Caribbean society, Islamic Society, a Christian Union, Hindu Society, Chinese Cultural Club, our LGBT+ society, City Pride, and our neuro-affirming group, Tea Club. Such clubs and societies host a range of speakers, delivers assemblies and celebrate events such as Pride, Black History Month, Eid and Neurodiversity Celebration Month.
Always improving
At CLS, it is important to us that our Inclusion provision is a strength of the education we provide. Teaching resources, curriculum planning and ongoing professional learning sensitively ensure that the pupil experience in the classroom continues to foster a culture of inclusivity.
Our commitment to diversifying our teaching body has led to the establishing of a joint internship programme to support future teachers from Black and Minority Ethnic groups.
We proudly partner with EmployAbility, with a shared commitment to disability rights, best practice and inclusion.
