How do we achieve this?
- Pupils are cared for by their form tutor, whom they see daily. The form tutor delivers some elements of the PSHEE programme, but mainly assists the pupils with day-to-day development – from communicating effectively with peers, learning to negotiate conflict to improving organisational skills, and developing good work habits.
- The School has a strong, adaptive and dynamic PSHEE programme which encompasses a myriad of areas from family life and managing relationships, parties, festivals and drugs awareness, consent, pornography, risk tasking, brain development, anti-bullying, mental health, developing technologies, careers and transsitioning to university. Skilled teachers are supported by external professionals to deliver a high-quality provision to support the preparation of young people for a twenty first century world.
- Our pastoral programme extends beyond the classroom, supporting parents and carers to ensure they feel empowered, confident and informed on the issues facing young people. Our Parents’ Forum provides a space for parents to debate and share experience of their own challenges as well as providing expert advice from professionals.
- We are proudly a phone-free School and continue to engage with the latest research around technology and SMART devices in order that we can support children in engaging with technology safely whilst fostering a sociable and healthy environment for pupils to learn and play.
It's not just about the academic. It's about them as a person as well. Pastoral care has always been strong in the school.
