Sixth Form pupils at CLS are offered a rich array of opportunities to develop leadership, character, and community engagement. As senior pupils of the School, they are entrusted with roles that foster responsibility and influence. Many serve as prefects, helping to uphold School values and support younger pupils in their daily routines. Others take on leadership positions in sport, music, drama and CCF, where they not only lead by example but also mentor others and promote teamwork and resilience.
Our Sixth Form pupils are visible role models, setting the tone for behaviour, academic ambition, and kindness across the School. Their presence is especially impactful for younger pupils, who often look up to them for guidance and inspiration. Sixth Formers also engage in structured mentoring programmes, offering academic coaching and pastoral support. Trained mentors help peers improve confidence, organisation, and subject mastery, contributing to a culture of mutual support and growth.
While leadership opportunities within our community play a vital role, our central London location means learning extends far beyond the classroom. The city becomes an extension of pupils’ education, opening doors to world-leading cultural institutions, pioneering industries, professional networks and inspiring partnerships.
Shared opportunities through City+
Our Sixth Form experience is further enriched through our close partnership with City of London School for Girls.
Through the City+ programme, joint academic seminars, leadership initiatives, co-curricular activities and, from 2028, a shared Sixth Form Centre in the heart of the city, pupils benefit from an even broader community of ideas, experiences and perspectives. Â
Peer Mentoring
Our bespoke Peer Mentoring and Coaching programme is designed for Junior Sixth Form (Year 12) pupils to develop leadership, mentoring and coaching skills by offering support to pupils in the Lower and Middle School around academic and pastoral matters.
Seeing the growth in confidence and progress in my coachee has been incredibly rewarding. This experience has also strengthened my own communication and leadership skills, giving me a greater sense of purpose and connection with the Lower School community.
The experience of Peer Mentoring cultivates leadership, empathy, and a sense of purpose – qualities that prepare pupils not only for university and careers, but for meaningful lives as engaged citizens. The Sixth Form journey at CLS is as much about personal development as it is about academic achievement, offering pupils the chance to leave a lasting legacy within the school community.
