Did you know?

Last year more than 345 Old Citizens came back to school for reunions and events. We would love to see you too!

Our pupils face an ever-changing world ahead in which the jobs we are preparing them for do not yet exist.

Innovation in Curriculum

At City of London School, we pride ourselves on always looking ahead. If our pupils are to adapt to an ever-changing world, we must adapt too.

That’s why we strive to provide a bedrock of knowledge and skills that blend the timely with the timeless. Our broad and innovative curriculum is built to ensure we can capitalise on the rate and scale of recent technological advances.

Our pupils are exposed to scholarship and innovative ideas that help them learn how to think rather than what to think.

Promoting interaction between boys and girls

Our City+ programme provides opportunities for boys and girls to learn with and from each other in Sixth Form. Working with the City of London School for Girls (CLSG), we provide a range of bespoke courses to help pupils develop social-emotional skills and broaden their cultural and intellectual horizons.

The programme includes:

  • Four-week courses spanning topics ranging from Photography to Practical Journalism, the Psychology of Voting, Science Ethics.
  • Core sessions with leading experts on topics such as Drugs and Alcohol Misuse, Awareness and Understanding of Disabilities, and Consent and Sexual Harassment.
  • In-depth sessions on UCAS applications and admissions tests, and the transition to university.
  • The chance to take part in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Competition.
  • Plus the annual CLS vs CLSG netball match.
“Witnessing the pupils interact in a really positive way, giving warm and generous feedback to each other, and being totally focussed on their individual projects and skills sessions, has been a real privilege of my role."
Tom Robinson, City+ Coordinator
“City+ really helped to quick start my social life at school, and allowed me to form friendships with CLS and CLSG pupils, which I would never have made otherwise.”
Milan, a pupil who was new to CLS in the Sixth Form

Nurturing skills for tomorrow’s world

Our City Ready programme draws on the latest educational and professional research to help pupils develop skills for success in tomorrow’s world. Courses include:

  • Design, Computing & Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, propelling our pupils to make the most of this revolutionary technology.
  • Rhetoric, drawing on the greats – from Cicero to Churchill – to help pupils learn the art of speaking and listening well.
  • Civics, drawing on our location and the worlds of politics, finance, international relations and entrepreneurism to help pupils grapple with contemporary challenges.

To support the hugely successful Design, Computing & Robotics course, we have developed a unique study programme on Artificial Intelligence, propelling our pupils to make the most of this revolutionary technology. Yet we also know that success depends on the ability to communicate effectively and so our new course on Rhetoric will draw on the greats – from Cicero to Churchill – to help our pupils learn the art of speaking and listening well. In taking advantage of our location in the heart of the City of London, we are developing a course in Civics, to help our pupils reflect on how to grapple with salient dilemmas affecting our world in an interdisciplinary manner, drawing on politics, finance, international relations, and entrepreneurism. Such programmes of study are enhanced by a public lecture series, where we hear from leading minds in a range of industries talk about the issues impacting on our world.

“City Ready draws on the best of educational theory to move beyond the false dichotomies of knowledge vs skills or traditional study vs modern learning. Our broad and unique suite of academic opportunities, delivered by experts in the field, speak to our core school values to ensure that our pupils are ready for life beyond CLS.”

– Glenn Bezalel, Deputy head academic
