Alan has been the Head at CLS since January 2018, having joined us from Brighton College where he was Deputy Head.
Alan holds an MA in Economics from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science where he was an Economic and Social Research Council scholar. Before joining Brighton College in 2010, Alan spent eight years as Head of Politics at Tonbridge School and, before that, he taught Economics at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford where he was educated as a boy.
Alan was a governor at the London Academy of Excellence, and currently serves as a governor at James Allen’s Girls’ School.
Senior Management Team
Mark is responsible for many aspects of the day-to-day running of the School. He teaches Chemistry.
Basher looks after the pastoral and academic needs of our Fourth and Fifth Form pupils. He also coordinates the DEI forums at the school. He teaches Russian and Drama and is a DDSL.
Paul looks after the pastoral concerns of the oldest pupils at our School. He teaches French and is a DDSL.
Noeleen is involved in Alumni events and has responsibility for a range of academic matters. She also organises a range of trips and all possible quiz competitions. She teaches History.
As DSL, Alice is responsible for all safeguarding matters. She oversees all matters relating to pupil welfare and pastoral care. Alice also teaches Religion and Philosophy.
Andrew coordinates all co-curricular activities from sports fixtures to educational visits. He is also responsible for 'pupil voice', leads on sustainability and is a DDSL. He teaches History.
Glenn is responsible for the School’s curriculum, pedagogical approach, teaching practice and standards, and educational innovation. He teaches Religion & Philosophy.
Patrick oversees the personal and academic development of all pupils in the Lower School and is also a deputy safeguarding lead. He teaches Innovative Design & Visual Arts.
Philip oversees the admission of new pupils to CLS. He is also responsible for the School’s internal and external communications. He teaches Geography.
Kathrin leads our marketing and communications, and works with alumni, parents, and organisations who support CLS and our bursary programme. Her team also nurtures our alumni community.
Sofie is a DDSL and manages all safeguarding cases at the school. She works closely with the other members of the Pastoral Team.
Chris is responsible for ensuring we use data and technology to support our pupils' progress in an impactful way. He teaches Economics.
Sara looks after the shared services functions of governance, operations and estates across the three City Schools. She works closely with Katie Kerr.
Katie looks after the shared service functions of HR and Finance across the three City Schools. She works closely with Sara Seymour-Savage.
