Geography and Economics pupils, alongside other interested pupils and teachers, gathered to hear about the key themes explored in his new book, ‘The Lie of the Land’ as well as his popular publications ‘Who Owns England?’ and ‘The Lost Rainforests of Britain.’
Interviewed by Sixth Form pupil, Timo, Guy shed light on how land in England is used, who owns it, the biodiversity in our rainforests and key features of our national parks.
He discussed the often-overlooked complexities of land distribution and how this impacts housing, the environment, and wider society. His insights sparked a lively discussion, with pupils and staff raising questions on topics such as the housing crisis, the role of land reform in tackling inequality, and what steps we can take to help the UK achieve net zero.
Guy’s visit provided a fantastic opportunity for pupils to connect classroom learning with real-world issues.
