The city came alive with the sounds of Swing, Latin, and Funk last Thursday lunchtime as our talented Sixth Form Jazz Quintet took to the stage as part of the renowned LIVE at St Mary-le-Bow festival

Set in the heart of London, the historic church provided a stunning backdrop for a vibrant and energetic performance that drew in local workers, visitors, and music lovers alike.

Showcasing a mix of jazz styles, the ensemble performed an engaging repertoire inspired by legendary artists such as Miles Davis and Chick Corea, capturing the spirit of classic jazz while adding their own youthful flair. Each member of the quintet had a chance to shine, with impressive solos and tight ensemble playing that demonstrated both skill and passion.

The performance was part of an ongoing commitment by the school’s Music Department to provide our pupils with real-world performance opportunities and to bring music into public spaces.

The event marks another highlight in what has already been a busy year for the school’s music programme, with more performances planned throughout the summer.
