Yesterday, Teacher of French, Mr White, delivered a powerful assembly sharing a personal story drawn from his own family’s history. His research into the First World War experiences of his two great-grandfathers – seen through the lens of class and privilege – uncovered untold stories and offered a moving insight into the personal cost of conflict. He left pupils and staff with the reminder that “remembrance becomes about moral responsibility, an ongoing effort to keep history alive.”
Today, the whole school gathered in the courtyard for our Remembrance Service as our Head, Chair of Governors and Old Citizen Major Iain Dunkeld (Class of 2006) laid wreaths at our war memorial.
In the stillness of that space, as the music echoed off the stone, the familiar rituals of the two-minute silence felt as powerful as ever.
