The event provided a valuable final opportunity for teams still aiming to secure qualification for the National Championships.
Earlier in the season, CLS teams 34701A Vincibus, 34701B I’m Going to Be King of the Pirates, and 34701D Vanguard had already qualified for the VEX IQ National Championship. They will compete alongside CLS V5 teams 10743A Cognition and 10743B Vulcan, who earned their places at the VEX V5 National Competition.
That left teams 34701C Bob Jr and 34701E still pushing for qualification. Although they did not secure a place at Guild of Gears, the season was not over. A few weeks later, team Bob Jr received an invitation to Nationals, becoming the youngest team in the School’s history to qualify for the Championships!
Guild of Gears marked the final event in CLS’s robotics season before Nationals. Last year, six pupils qualified for the Championships; this year, 32 City of London School pupils will travel to Telford to compete this weekend.
The event ran smoothly thanks to the support of our Robotics Ambassadors in Fourth Form, Fifth Form and Junior Sixth Form, whose leadership ensured a positive experience for all teams.
