Across the School, careers education was brought to life in thoughtful and engaging ways. In classrooms and corridors, pupils were given a glimpse into the professional journeys of their teachers, with staff sharing their previous careers and experiences. Posters displayed on classroom and office doors revealed a striking variety of roles – a great reminder that career journeys are often far from linear.
This theme was explored further in a staff panel event, where Ms Chambers, Mr Dharamshi, Mr Bracken and Mr Bryant spoke candidly about their own routes into education. Drawing on experiences ranging from advertising to investment banking, they offered pupils valuable insight into how skills can transfer across industries, and how career paths and indeed interests can evolve over time.
Alongside this, teachers incorporated careers-focused discussions into lessons and tutor periods, encouraging pupils to think more deeply about how their subjects connect to future opportunities and the skills needed to succeed beyond the classroom.
The week’s activites also saw pupils visit Guildhall as part of the London Careers Festival, giving them direct exposure to a range of industries.
Fourth Form pupils attended a Careers in Sport, Physiotherapy and Media workshop hosted by Mango Studios. The session combined practical activities including physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, street football, and a hands on sports media task where pupils had the opportunity to commentate over football highlights, and practice mock post-match interview. Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable event for all involved, here is what some of the pupils had to say:
“I really enjoyed the media section as commentating on a clip of Messi was quite fun.”

Meanwhile, Third Form pupils attended the London Careers Festival events focused on Maths, Medicine and Science, where they heard from experts about career pathways, university routes, and the realities of working in these fields.
The experience encouraged many pupils to reflect more seriously on their own ambitions:
“It was good to hear from someone with a career I might want to get into… it’s made me want to look further.”

National Careers Week provided an opportunity not only to explore future possibilities, but also to recognise the value of adaptability in shaping a career. The range of activities across the fortnight highlighted an important message for pupils: there are many different routes to success, and each journey is unique.
