Pupils were able to come to School in traditional dress, with pupils proudly representing their heritage through clothing from around the world. Yet, as the day’s events made clear, culture extends far beyond attire. Through music, dance and food, pupils were given the opportunity to experience and appreciate the many ways culture shapes identity and community at CLS.
Highlights began during the Upper School Assembly, where pupils delivered an engaging programme of performances. These included Brazilian singing, traditional Chinese dance, Bollywood routines, and a range of musical expressions spanning different continents and traditions. The performances reflected both the talent and the courage of those who took to the stage, earning enthusiastic applause from their peers.
At lunchtime, celebrations continued with a charity food sale featuring dishes from a wide variety of cultures. Pupils embraced the chance to step beyond their usual routines and sample new cuisines, with proceeds supporting charity A21.
The festivities culminated in an after-school showcase that brought together pupils from CLC and CLSG in an eclectic mix of performances, from Irish dancing to traditional Middle Eastern music. The event concluded on a high note as the audience was invited to join performers on stage for a lively Brazilian dance, creating a powerful moment of unity and shared celebration.
Culture Day has quickly become a valued fixture in the school calendar. Now in its second year, the event successfully fostered a spirit of inclusion and mutual respect, highlighting the many cultures that make up the CLS community.
